New diesel engines have been added to the portfolio, which have been updated with twin-dosing technology, dual-injected AdBlue which help in Nitrogen emissions, while the 1.5 litre petrol units come with cylinder deactivation technology which increases efficiency and reduces carbon emissions by running on two cylinders when the demands are met.
The entry level Tiguan features a 1.5 litre TSI engine which gives 130PS of power which is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, capable of accelerating the car to a hundred in 10.9 seconds and reaching 44.8 Mpg. Lowered suspension, 20in wheels, R-style bumpers and spoiler distinguish the sportier version from the rest.
The Elegance trim comes with the same power options as the R-line and has the same top speed of 134mph and 0-100 times of 7.5 seconds, and come with 19in alloy wheels finished in Dark graphite, IQ light LED matrix headlamps with smart settings, silver roof rails and chrome finish on the side windows. Inside, the elegance offers 30-color ambient lighting, heated front seats and wheel, the Digital cockpit pro which features a 10.25 TFT instrument panel. Keyless locking and starting, tailgate sensor and panoramic sunroof are also standard on this trim. These features are also part of the R-line package.
Speaking about the Tiguan update Brian Luckie, Tiguan Product Manager at Volkswagen UK, said,“ An enhanced version with even more technology, connectivity and style should bolster its already strong positioning. Its sophisticated and premium new look also reflects the rest of the Volkswagen family, with a sleek new front being the highlight. The Tiguan is our top-selling SUV in the UK, and with the benefits now offered in this enhancement, there’s even more reason to choose one.”
