Toyota has confirmed that the 2021 Sienna will be available in dealerships across the country in November 2020. Though the 2021 model looks more like an evolution, it is an all-new vehicle and shares its underpinnings with the new Toyota Highlander. Built on the new TNGA-K platform, Toyota claims that its latest minivan is tauter and quieter than the model it replaces thanks to the new platform. It comes with a standard hybrid powertrain which involves all trims and a bunch of new tech and amenities, this time, it raises the bar for every first priority.
It will also be available as a hybrid only. Powering the massive family vehicle will be the all too familiar 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine. It will produce a combined power of 243 horses. The gearbox will be an e-CVT unit and will be available with both FWD (two-motor) and AWD (three-motor). Speaking of, the AWD system is an on-demand electronic all-wheel-drive system that is capable of sending up to 80 percent of power to the rear wheels should the situation demand it. The Toyota Sienna is all toughened up for outdoor adventures with its all-wheel drive option. The Sienna will also disclose an available tow hitch and factory optional 1,500-watt inverter with 120V AC outlet to power the camping equipment.
The whole foundation of the car has been developed by designed by the combined effort of CALTY’s Newport Beach, CA and Ann Arbor, MI studios, who are trained to deliver a combination of room, comfort, convenience, fuel efficiency and versatility.
The Chief Engineer Monte Kaehr said, “This is an all-new vehicle from the ground up, including a new chassis platform as well as a new electrical platform,” he continued, “The development of the fourth generation Sienna was a huge undertaking but we always worked towards one single mission to make the best van yet.” The car is built as a shoulder-themed body design with added muscular wheel flares with the body surface boldly sculpted that displays a round sense of athleticism. The inspiration bounded by the iconic Shinkansen Japanese Bullet Train for the front design of the car to make a confident and a speedy impression. As the minivan is designed this way, it also displays a sporty look, a boxy impression for the observers and a driving experience like never seen before in Minivans.
The car’s exterior is well blended with the car’s spectacular interior as it includes various features which are built in a way that it fulfills all the practical attributes of a driver like his/her’s emotional desires about having the finest driving experience ever. And the spacious interior with added large center touch display, handy storage space with a special Bridge Console, which is the key to allocate personalized space to the driver and front passenger which is also an innovative solution that is a lot different than usual minivan layout options. Thus Bridge console is installed upwards between the driver and passenger for convenience, and connects the instrument panel to the center armrest. This feature enables the driver to experience a stress-free and comfortable driving experience.
Elaborating the spacious interior, The Sienna LE and some XLE models come equipped in eight-seat configurations with a retractable (folding) middle seat. Some XLE models, as well as the XSE, Limited and Platinum are seven-seat models featuring the Super Long Slide second-row captain’s chairs with the Limited and Platinum FWD models equipped with ottomans. The interior also offers a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard on the LE Trim onwards which starts from $35,635 (incl. destination). The system will feature Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, all as standard. Higher trims will get a 1,200 watt 12-speaker JBL sound system. Other standard features include Pre-Collision Alert (PCA) with pedestrian detection, radar cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, and road sign recognition. A reversing camera also comes in as standard while higher trims will boast of a wide-angle rear camera along with a digital rear-view mirror.
As already known, The Sienna is popular and praised because of the high, broad view of the road that instills a feeling of confidence behind the wheel. The upwards front seating position and larger windows make the Sienna an excellent drive with a beautiful outer view. The car is designed with new and modified safety eatures as mentioned earlier, out of many features to place the key safety features include: Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, standard adaptive cruise control.
The model’s most important engineering advancement is the Hybrid powertrain. The hybrid system offers 245 total horsepower and an EPA-estimated 36 collective with MPG fuel economy. The driver of the car is going to ultra-smooth acceleration rate with just a tint of noise coming out, and this is because of its low-speed torque from two electric motors working in with the production with the high-efficiency motors 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine.
Pricing and which one to buy: Prices as we said before start from $35,635 (INR- Rs. 26, 44,769.12) for the LE trim. It will also be available with an LE Plus package for an added cost of $2,300.
