Toyota’s latest technical upgrades for the Prius Plug-in cover all areas from safety to innovative connection solutions. With the addition of these technological updates, this abundantly technical car has become an epitome of Toyota’s scientific advancements.
Known for constantly striving to bring about improvements and advancements in their scientific know-how, Toyota has once again stepped forward with a plethora of new upgrades in its Prius Plug-in. The enhancements cover almost every important part of on-board features that make driver and passenger experience better. With these new updates, Toyota might be able to expand its sales stats even more, especially after it made these efforts to appeal more to an audience that demands increasingly advanced vehicles every day.
For a vehicle that houses the latest developments made by its parent company, a starting price of £32,645 (INR 32.18 lakh) and a top model price of £34,745 (INR 34.25 lakh) sounds only fair.
Now comes the exciting part about everything that is new in the Prius Plug-in. Four main aspects of the car have undergone this evolution. The primary task that Toyota handled during this new project was the complete upgrade of all its safety features. The vehicle already came with the standard Toyota’s Safety Sense, as all the other models in its line-up. However, a new introduction of the Lane Trace Assist to the package has drastically improved all other safety features while assisting the driver even amidst heavy traffic. This new feature comes in handy to help the driver get better control of the car, steer through unclear road markings and keep away from potential danger.
In all, the Lane Trace Assist is an alluring option for those living in bustling cities and for drivers looking for stress free rides to and fro their daily commute. The safety feature has been equipped with a forward-facing camera and millimetre-wave radar. Another safety-equipment added recently is Excel’s partially automatic SIPA parking assist system. After bolstering consumer safety, Toyota made a significant addition to its smartphone connectivity feature in the form of a fresh multimedia set. This enables occupants to use its 8-inch display screen to gain access to online information like social media accounts, navigation and entertainment. The feature requires a single smartphone to connect through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
Another noticeable upgrade is the MyT app and eCall added with a data collection module. eCall automatically alerts emergency services in the case of a crash or any other serious incident. The MyT app offers features like ‘find my car’, info on Toyota, mileage data etc. Such a feature usually aims at heightening consumer satisfaction and creating a reliable basis to build customer trust on the platform. Now available with a hybrid powertrain, the car is also well-equipped to run on electricity. As of now, the car in its electric hybrid mode can drive a distance of approximately 34 miles with a top speed of 84 mph, after a single charge.
The dual capability of its hybrid powertrain is a welcome change for ‘carbon footprint’ conscious drivers. Prius Plug-in’s Dual Motor Drive also assists the lithium-ion battery in delivering its full potential. The battery usually takes two hours or a little more than three hours to charge, depending on its power source. The sale of Toyota Prius Plug-in’s Business and Excel versions is in full swing as customers have already hit their closest dealers.
