Back in 2017, the new generation Swift was introduced and wasn’t being updated since then. Previously this year, Suzuki launched a face-lifted Swift in Japan and now it has been launched in the UK. As anticipated with a face-lift, the improvements made are elusive and not tremendously prominent. Generally, here is all that you must know.
Although, there is not much alteration to the overall profile of the Swift, but it retained its usual sporty character in a more upgraded version. Updates on the 2021 model contain modified grille and headlamps. Furthermore, all models across all trim levels now get LED lights on the front and the rear as well.
Suzuki UK has sustained by the 1.2-liter power plant, however, they claim that it is an added innovative version. As expected, the motor has provided with a redesigned dual-injection system, a flexible oil pump, electric variable valve timing, and electric piston cooling jets. According to Suzuki, all of these developments will boost Swift in improving its effectiveness and productivity.
Suzuki claims that the updated hybrid technology has an enhanced hybrid system. The fuel efficiency is improved when paralleled with self-charging hybrid system. This has further been powered by new lithium-ion battery with capacity upgraded from 3Ah to 10Ah. The transmission has now also included with a spare CVT unit, apart from the standard manual transmission.
With this setup, Suzuki is leveling up with the use of lightweight components; Swift ALLGRIP Auto models have remarkable fuel economy of 51.7 mpg and low CO2 emissions. Thus, it is also a perfect preference for customers staying in rural areas who may require extra agility across lumpier roads or for driving on slippery surfaces during winter seasons.
In this updated version of Suzuki, all new entry-level trim, ‘SZ-L’ has also been introduced. It consists all the complete features that a buyer can wish for, including a leather wrapped steering wheel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio and smart-phone connectivity, a rear-view parking camera, a rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitor, and a 16-inch alloys. Even one solid color and six optional metallic colors with three dual tone colors have also been available.
There is a new ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control) system being added to make driving more comfortable and relaxing. This system is built-in on all facelift Swift models to measure the distance to the vehicle in front and regulates road speed to uphold any of three driver designated headway distances.
When it comes to a long drive, how anyone can forget about mixing it up with the music. Thereof, the newly updated one has a unique audio system for all facelift Swift models with a large seven-inch touch panel display.
Apple Car Play is the cooler and safer way to use an iPhone in the Swift. Apart from making audio calls, it also expedites in getting instructions for optimized traffic flow situations, enjoying listening music, receiving emails, text messages and much more.
Stating about the price of the entry-level SZ-L trim, it has been fixed at £14,749 (approximately INR 14.1 Lakhs) while the range-topping SZ-5 (with a CVT) costs £18,749 (approximately INR 17.9 Lakhs). However, the Swift retails at a lower price in India. Although, while both the cars look alike, they do have their own mechanical variances and mechanisms.
