First launched in the year 1989, the Lexus LS played a pivotal role in ensuring the company’s success. Now hailed as a classic and iconic model of its time, the 1989 car has once again become a pillar in the release of Lexus’ all-new LS 500 and LS 500h.
The Lexus LS is as much an icon for today’s drivers, as it was for the ones who drove this vehicle for the first time in 1990s. In those days, it was famous for its comfortable ride and silent interiors. Today, after the application of years of research and innovation, the car with its newest gen model is once again sure to set the bar up high. Much has changed since its debut days. The newer 500 and 500h models are much more advanced and overall better than their predecessor. Let’s take a look at what is new in the 2021 LS.
The statement, ‘a model that gives rise to transformation through the spirit of constant innovation and by providing new technologies and value for the times,’ made by Akio Toyoda accurately captures the essence of LS- how it stays up-to-date and how it perfectly fits in with the times it gets launched in. Building upon its rep as a quiet and comfortable vehicle, the 2021 LS offers a heightened level of those factors along with newer enhancements to make vehicle control and driving easier.
Koji Sato, Lexus International President stated, “The LS, as a flagship, has constantly pursued innovation and has provided new technologies and value for its customers. In developing the new LS, we furthered the evolution of the exceptional quietness and comfort that has been a steadfast constant since the model’s first generation.”
To make a ride the most immersive it can be, Lexus equipped this fresh unit with Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) in addition to fine-tuning its suspension and chassis. Those looking for a smoother ride and gaining driver confidence can definitely get into this model. Offering an output of 416 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, the LS 500 has a powerful 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 engine which takes the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in a minor 4.6 seconds. The hybrid version of this car, LS 500h contains a combination of the V6 engine and a lithium-ion battery that powers its two motors. The Multistage Hybrid System of this car takes it from 0 to 100 in a total of 5.1 seconds. For drivers who chase the adrenaline rush of a fast car while ensuring that maximum fuel efficiency is maintained, the hybrid version should be an undisputed pick.
Performance aside, its interior has been developed to offer the most comfort and luxurious feel that a sedan can possibly offer. From factors that ensure comfort- like armrests and seat cushions to factors that add to the interior aesthetic and visual comfort, the new Lexus LS has it all. Its Palomino Leather interior comes with multiple ornamentation options like Open Pore Black and Kiriko Glass.
Assistive and connective technologies like heads-up display and Remote Touch Interface add to the luxurious interior appeal while outer elements like restyled bumper, front facade and a new exterior shade ensure that it is as imposing on the outside as it is on the inside. Equipped with state-of-the-art safety features, it has prioritized passenger health and protection.
The LS 500 and LS 500h are not the only two remarkable productions in this segment, coming in a more dynamic form is the LS F SPORT based on the GA-L platform. Basically an even more enhanced version of its other two counterparts, it comes with elements that make it sportier, not just in looks but also in performance.
