Hyundai bids for Sustainability with its Hybrid Elantra and all new Sports variant with Elantra N lineup. The base price ranges for its al inclusive Elantra SE at $19650 (INR 14.64 Lakh) all the way to $28100 (INR 20.94 Lakh) for its N line up. Features can be added to its other variants with Convenience and Premium Package.
The push for green is making itself evident in all the new launches in the automobile segment. Hyundai Elantra has too made its bid in this segment for sustainability with their latest line up of which includes Elantra Hybrid SE Model. Along with this hybrid model, the new sporty Elantra N model was also announced alongside with it. This new line up comes with 16 new features from its 2020 predecessor and a whole bunch of regular features including SmartSense and some exciting features like Voice Command, Digital Key, etc. among others.
Taking about the lineup and price reveal, Olabisi Boyle, VP, Product Planning and Mobility Strategy, Hyundai Motor, North America said, “I love the Elantra. “It’s a feature-rich vehicle with a compelling ‘sensuous sporty’ design that outpaces the competition. We know customers demand better fuel economy. The Elantra Hybrid delivers with 54 MPG and the Elantra N Line, with its six-speed transmission, is all about bold performance.”
The emphasis for fuel economy and bold performance is evident from the car features and the re-design it has gone under in its all new avatar for 2021. The all
decked up Elantra SE comes with 15″ alloy wheels and Projector headlights with Lead Daytime Running Lights (DRL) which were not there in the previous iteration. Coming to the interiors it has a bigger display consisting of 4.3 color TFT cluster and auto headlight control.
With their proclamation of bold performance, it has Idle Stop and Go (ISG), 4-wheel Disc brakes and a estimated combined EPA MPG 37. It has safety features to the brim from blind spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCCW) with Rear Collison Avoidance Assist, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, Safe Exit Warning. All the “Assists” now become a standard SmartSense feature. If one has car will have, all cars with SmartSense will have it.
Coming to entertainment bit of the interiors, it has 8″ Display Audio AM/FM, HD Radio, Wireless Android Auto or Apple Car Play and Dual USB Input, with Apple Cay a new feature over the last 2020 model and enhanced other models too.
The Elantra SEL will come in four variants, namely base model, Hybrid, Limited and Limited Hybrid. Comparing to the SE model, this has thinned down features and carried forward from the 2020 Elantra Value Edition, Proximity Key with Push button, Heated Front Seat, Illuminated Vanity Mirrors and Sliding Sun Visor, apart from Idle Stop and Go which is a feature starting from 2021 Elantra.
To pack a punch to this base model you can choose to packages to add in more functionality, which are SEL Convenience Package ($950) which adds features like Forward Collison Avoidance Assist, Full 10.25″ LCD TFT Cluster Display, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Electronic Parking Brake, Wireless Charging Pad, etc. and the Premium Package ($3050) would include 17″ alloy wheels, Dark Chrome exterior accents, LED + Bulb Taillights, Chrome DLO, Sunroof, Digital Key, Side Mirror tun signal indicator, Power Driver seat with lumbar along with the features mentioned in the Convenience Package.
The second variant SEL Hybrid will have a hybrid powertrain (50+ MPG), 6 speed DCT, Electronic Parking Brake, Multi Link Rear Suspension, and all the features of SEL. The SEL Limited model has the features talked about in Connivence and Premium Package and additionally have for safety- parking distance warning for reverse, Parking Collison Avoidance Assist Reverse. The interiors will include Navigation (10’25” and have cabled Apple Carplay or Android Auto), Highway Drive Assist and Dynamic Voice Recognition. The Limited Hybrid combines the features and functionality of Limited and Hybrid with Full LED taillights, Integrated Memory Seating system and Ventilated Front Seat.
With this new line up, two interesting features are also added to the list with Digital Key and Voice Recognition. Basically, the Digital Key is an app on your smartphone that can lock or unlock your Elantra, share the key with your friends or family (leaving the physical key behind and limit certain functionality), activate panic alert and start your car with additional Technology. If you are a fan of Alexa or Siri or Google Assistant, then Elantra Voice Recognition will fascinate you to control functionality with your voice from Climate key system, on/off, Fan Speed, Air intake system, heated seat on and off etc. This feature would be activated with “Push to talk Button.”
A new sport lineup is also introduced known as Elantra N line for those who are looking for roguish looks and features to support their adventurous side. The look is attention grabbing with Hyundai’s signature Cascading Grille in red, front bumper fascia and rear bumper fascia with diffuser, badging, 18”-inch wheels with two types of tyers either from Hankook Ventus or Goodyear, Chrome twin exhaust, sun roof, projector headlights and full LED taillights. The interiors are leather centric with bolsters, logos and steering wheels and the gear shit has metallic leather look with a Qi wireless charging pad, alloy pedals and black headliner. An interesting red stitching adds to its distinction from the other Elantra 2021 models.
The bold performance is further emphasized in this model with a 1.6-liter GDI turbocharged engine with six speed manual or seven speed Double Clutch Transmission (DCT). The DCT will have a manual shift mode known as Shifttronic. This new line up with drivetrain will generate 201 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque for performance and fuel efficiency.
Coming to the prices of all the Elantra line up the starting point of SE is set at the price of $19,650 (INR 14.64 Lakh) while its SEL and its variants will cost from $20,900 (INR 15.58 Lakh) to the top model priced at $ 24,450 (INR 18.22 Lakh). The Hybrid base model can be snatched between $23,550 (INR 17.55 Lakh) to $28,100(INR 20.94 Lakh), lastly Elantra N line will be available at $24,100 (INR 17.96 Lakh).
