The SUVs are the most demanded vehicle in India, be it below 10 lacs or above a crore, India saw 3 major SUV launches this year.

It is not a new fact that Indians just love SUVs, each and every price point has SUVs that are a lot of times designed specifically for sale in India. But then there are the top-of-the-line SUVs that offer the most powerful, comfortable, capable and feature added options on the market. 2020 saw three of these cars being released, so let’s summarize them. Although the year did not see anything very outrageous like the Rolls-Royce Cullinan or the Lamborghini Urus, there have been launches that are worth keeping an eye on.

1. Audi RS Q8

First up is the Audi RS Q8, the most expensive big car from Audi. The car has a big 4 litre V8 which is twin-turbocharged, this powerplant makes 591 horsepower and 590 pound per feet of torque. The eight-speed automatic transmission transfers the power to all the four wheels via the Quattro AWD system. The car accelerates to a hundred in 3.7 seconds which is supercar territory, and also features a mild hybrid system. The RS Q8 is a fast SUV and shares a lot of its construction with the Lamborghini Urus, and also has a record at the Nurburgring for being the fastest SUV to go around it.

The Audi has blacked out interiors, sportier wheels, a lower ride height and an increased propensity towards going fast rather than going off road. This car is one of the proper competitors of the Porsche Cayenne and is more of a German battle. The Audi RS Q8 is priced at INR 2.4 Crores.

2. BMW X5 M

The next up is a BMW, but no ordinary SUV, it is the X5 M, a car filled to the absolute brim with features, top-of-the-line specs and unmatched comfort and driving dynamics. But then BMW Motorsport went a bit mad with it and gave it a 4.4 litre twin-turbo V8 that churns out 625 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, making it a proper Super SUV and the most powerful engine in BMWs arsenal. The BMW features premium interiors which are designed by M for performance use, active differential, and a slew of other M components that make this car fast, and agile. The X5 M is priced at INR 2.3 crores.

3. Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 400d is not a super SUV by its name but does come with a 3 litre 6 cylinder engine that makes 330 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The car is more of a standard of luxury SUVs, it is not outrageously designed or expensive, has a powerful engine and a range of other features. The car competes mainly with the BMW X5 and the Range Rover and is priced at INR 1.17 Crores.
