Mumbai’s well-known fitness entrepreneur and car enthusiast Suren Joshi set the stage for a grand rendezvous between the 2020 Mahindra Thar and large SUV Hummer H2. Both the SUVs have huge a fan-base and it is nothing short of overwhelming for automobile buffs to own both the cars at once.

It is a good day when a car buff gets their hands on the latest version of India’s one of the most loved SUVs– the Thar. What’s even more awesome is when the vehicle is an addition to an already impressive garage featuring the Hummer H2 and a facelift export model of the Toyota Celica.

Mahindra’s 2020 Thar caused a rumble among the fans following its launch. The all-rounding new SUV model, which is a particular favourite of adventurers and free-time off-roaders, made rounds with its four star safety rating by the universally renowned Global NCAP crash tests. The versatile vehicle boasts a modern take on Thar’s iconic design and promises a manifold increase in its capability on every type of terrain. The powertrain includes options of a new mStallion150 petrol engine and the mHawk130 diesel engine coupled with either a manual or an automatic transmission.

Joshi’s remarkable collection also flaunts General Motors’ gigantic SUV, the Hummer H2 which remained in production from 2002 to 2009. Even though the Hummer dwarves most of the vehicles on the road, the all-new Mahindra Thar looks pretty good by its side. Its 122.8 inch wheelbase and 81.3 inch width elongate and amplify the SUV’s powerful stance. In addition to this, the 2008-09 engine versions also decreased the automobile’s 0-60 time by more than one second which is quite a feat for a vehicle of this size and weight.

Another noteworthy car is the Toyota Celica’s first gen facelift export model which was produced during the 1975-1977 Celica lineup facelift projects, wherein the models were designed according to the foreign markets where they were to be sold. The first gen facelift underwent several changes, the most important being engine swaps where the hardtop coupe worldwide models got an 18R engine while the American models were fitted with a 20R engine. The vehicle also gained several design changes and exterior body tuning.

Mumbai’s great meet-up between the two SUVs shows us that iconic vehicles have no age and owners like Suren Joshi, who share our love for all things automobile, understand that.
