The SF1000 donned the Burgundy Red for Scuderia Ferrari’s 1000 race in F1, now a full size replica is being auctioned.
Ever desired owning a Formula 1 car? We all have, and Scuderia Ferrari is going to make this dream come true for one lucky person, they have put up a full size replica of the SF1000-the current Ferrari F1 car up for auction, what’s more is that this replica has been painted in the burgundy red color that, the team, its drivers and the car donned on the team’s 1000th Grand Prix which was held on their home track of Mugello in Italy. Signed by Sebastian Vettel and Charles LeClerc, and featuring their respective car numbers on the front and the rear.
But what might come across as sad news is that the Ferrari is just a physical body replica, and does not have an engine, gearbox or any other mechanical systems in it. Ferrari has snatched the chance for a civilian to get into the car and rev it up, but nonetheless it symbolises something else. Scuderia Ferrari is the only team to have taken part in all seventy editions of the Formula 1 Championship, and competed in more than a thousand races now. The team has to it’s name 238 wins, 228 pole positions and 254 fastest laps. Drivers in the Ferrari have led 462 races, and between them taken 16 constructors titles and 15 drivers titles, which includes the greatest names in the sport like Michael Schumacher, Niki Lauda, Juan-Manuel Fangio and Alberto Ascari.
To have a specially made piece of the most famous and successful motorsport team in the world, which has competed from Formula 1 to Le Mans, is truly a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The burgundy red livery makes up for even further value addition, as the color belongs to the very first race car from the Maranello brand, the 125 S. It has a part of old man Enzo Ferrari’s legacy, the most eccentric race car maker who even drove Ferrari into bankruptcy because he would not let go of his ambition to make the fastest race cars in the world. RM Sotheby’s is the auctioneer.
The SF1000 was put in the burgundy red, along with the Ferrari drivers and the whole team, to commemorate their 1000th race. The lot at RM Sotheby’s will also feature additional items from Scuderia Ferrari, inducing burgundy red racing suits and gloves signed by Vettel and LeClerc, Mick Schumacher’s race suit and gloves in which he drove his father’s F2004 during the race weekend in Mugello. Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Experience Package is also up for grabs, which allows two people to join the team behind the scenes on any Grand Prix in Europe or Abu Dhabi, as well as the Scuderia Ferrari experiences which lets people join the team’s base in Maranello to watch a live Grand Prix and meet the people behind the racing team.
Mattia Binotto, Scuderia’s Team Principal, commented on the auction of the SF1000 replica, “ This year Scuderia Ferrari reached the historic milestone of competing in its one thousandth Grand Prix, which was held at the company’s home track of Mugello. We chose to commemorate this event by producing two show cars, one of which will be auctioned through RM Sotheby’s”. The auction will be held online by RM Sotheby’s, from 7th to 14th December. The replica is expected to fetch a starting bid of 150,000-200,000 Euros ( INR 13Cr-17Cr), but knowing the reverence of the car, nothing can be said as to how high it will be sold for.
