Does that happen with you as well, when even for a second, it seemed that Valtteri would mount away and take the race?  So, ladies and gentlemen, here announcing that our Mercedes-AMG Petronas teammates Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas evolved together for a one-two victory, securing the team’s historic seventh consecutive double championship at Imola.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas’ Lewis Hamilton initiated the team’s title at its record seventh continuous constructors’ title at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, with the leading teammate Valtteri Bottas.  however, there was late-race drama as Max Verstappen retired from P2 after emerging to experience a tire issue, hence, bringing out a Safety Car that led to a climactic ending of the race.

The conventional confines of the Imola track make overhauling here a challenging feat, making track site key.  Nevertheless, while Bottas had a fabulous start, on the other hand, Hamilton really has to lose a position to Verstappen into the first turn.

However, Bottas hit upon the next lap, which left him with floor injury and some vital loss of downforce therefore.  Hamilton opted to run a longer and therefore, were paused in his pit stop as much as feasible.  Moreover, luck worked into his favor as Esteban Ocon left on lap 29, triggering a Virtual Safety Car.

whereas Charles Leclerc reached in fifth at the chequered flag, carrying off BWT Racing Point’s Sergio Perez, who had speculated with a late pause under the Car.  The McLaren F1 duo of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris alleged that P7 and P8, while it was a wonderful day for the Alfa Romeo Racing team, taking their initial double-points close of the year, with Kimi (P9) heading Antonio (P10).  The Finn has performed a 49-lap stint work to his benefit.

Meantime, after a splendid effort to qualify P4, Scuderia AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly experienced a coolant loss seizing him to withdraw from the race on Lap 8.  While in a strange incident, Williams Racing’s Russell turned into recession on Lap 53 under the Safety Car.

Though, Mercedes continued to re-write the F1 history books with an astonishing seventh back-to-back seventh consecutive double championship’ title.  Additionally, with the speediest lap bonus point too, the now-85 point Valtteri also means that Hamilton’s own seventh title marks a reasonable assurance and reality.

The team has obtained every single championship in F1’s modern era and team chief Toto Wolff reckons they can promote the benchmark even longer.  “This is something to be proud of.  We have a group that is just amazing together, we have tried to push the benchmark to new levels, and we have achieved that.  If we stay motivated and energised, we can push it even more,” he told.

Note – Hamilton scored an additional point for setting the fastest lap of the race. Grosjean received a 5-second time penalty for exceeding track limits.
