The all new Volkswagen Golf GTD has finally launched for the customers in UK. This car is the third of the series after the GTI and GTE models which were also available for the British buyers, this model is diesel-powered and considered the most powerful Golf GTD up till now. This car can be bought for a high run as it offers the benefits of both high-performance and long range.
The Golf GTD has already performed in the GT-badged line-up of performance Golfs, where the ultra-low emissions GTE plug-in hybrid were highly appreciated as iconic, high-performance & petrol-engine GTI – the current performance champion of the Golf range. The Golf R will be disclosed sooner up till next month. This brand new Golf GTD possess a maximum torque figure of 400 Nm and, for initial purposes, 200 PS – up from 184 PS in the outgoing model. As a cheery on top, the GTD is best known for its fuel efficiency, range and low emissions with a collective fuel economy of 51.4-54.3 mpg (WLTP) equates to a range of up to 600 miles from a single tank of fuel, while CO2 emissions of 137 g/km (WLTP) also manages to keep the GTD’s running expenses low.
The remaining of the Golf models (GTI & GTE) are featured with high level equipment and as a plus point the GTI contains a dynamic styling pack. which involves an illuminated front grille, distinctively styled bumpers and honeycomb-design LED front fog lights. The car also consists of an innovative and safety conscious IQ. Light LED matrix headlights with highly advanced Dynamic Light Assist high beam control system feature, meanwhile an 18-inch ‘Bakersfield’ alloy wheels drives the GTD’s importance as a high performance model. The car has a keyless entry, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors with integrated puddle lights which makes the car more convenient.
Driving is always an experience for a driver, and the interior is one of the prime features which attracts more attention. For the same, the car’s interior is equipped with front sports seats, with a grey version of the iconic Jacara Cloth finishing which links the car to its GT badged group. It also consists of an aluminium gear-lever and heated, leather wrapped multi-function sports steering wheel with paddle shifters improvising the GTD’s standard-fit DSG transmission experience. The dynamic GTD badge was initiated in 1982 when the Golf Mk I conferred with a turbocharged diesel engine hence marked the beginning of the Golf’s symbiotic relationship with high performance diesel power. The following model purveyed a high torque with additional less running costs to facilitate the model’s appeal about its successful family hatchback. With the hallowed GTI, the Golf Mk II and Mk III were also provided with the GTD variant, while the Mk IV and Mk V Golfs transferred to the GT TDI badging. Then, from the Golf Mk VI – GTD was on track with the model delivering in a high rate to the seventh-generation Golf’s unforgettable UK sales split. And now, the GTD returns back again with better improvements than ever before and also with fewer emissions.
Dale Piper, Golf Product Manager at Volkswagen UK, exclaimed: “The Golf GTD is the third member of the Golf GT trio, each one featuring a different set of characteristics. The iconic, enthusiast-focused Golf GTI and the ultra-low emissions Golf GTE plug-in hybrid are now joined by the high-torque, high-performance GTD. The multi-award-winning new Golf family has options for everyone – petrol, diesel, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid, performance petrol, and now performance diesel. With such a comprehensive powertrain line-up, its little surprise that the Golf is one of the UK’s top-selling cars, and with the GTD’s blend of performance and usability, the UK’s love affair with fast Golfs is set to continue.”
