This 1986 Lotus Esprit is reportedly 1 of 246 HCi Turbos made that year and is powered by a 2.2-liter turbocharged four that featured a higher compression ratio and Bosch ‘K’ Jetronic fuel injection. Power is routed through a 5-speed manual transaxle and the car is finished in Black over a tan leather interior with gold pinstriping. Factory options include a removable roof panel with wind deflector and the most recent service completed 4k miles ago included new cam belts, tensioners, a clutch kit, a rebuilt transaxle, as well as new oxygen sensors, a fuel pump relay, new ignition coil, manifold gaskets, and an A/C clutch. This Esprit is now being offered with records dating back to 2006, the factory service manual, tool kit, a clean Autocheck report dating back to 1991, and a clean Connecticut title in the seller’s name.
Black (A02) paint is said show a nice gloss with records indicating that the hood, trunk, roof, bumpers, and rear-upper quarter panels were repainted. Gold Turbo Esprit scripts were recently added and the seller notes a few small chips on the lower section of the rear bumper.
The factory BBS wheels wear newer BF-Goodrich tires at all four corners.
According to the seller, the 1986 Esprit included tan leather seats that were reportedly wider and lower to accommodate taller drivers. The air conditioning is inoperable and modifications include a Sony head unit with four JBL speakers. The odometers shows 48k miles.
The HCi moniker indicates a higher compression 2.2-liter turbocharged four making roughly 215 hp and 220 lb-ft or torque when new. The transaxle was rebuilt at 45k miles and the following parts were replaced:
